5784. Suffolk County, NY. Oct. 18. 40-year-old woman fatally struck by a white commercial truck which fled the scene.
5785. Seneca Falls, NY. Oct. 17. Pedestrian injured when struck by a small dark-colored car, possibly a Chevrolet Cavalier, which fled the scene.
5786. Lowell, Mass. Oct. 19. Man critically injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

A Salem County nurse tried in vain Friday night to resuscitate her daughter, who’d been struck by a hit-and-run driver, then run over by a second car on a dark rural road.
Cathy Burns, 55, administered CPR to her daughter, Chelsea Burns, 25, on Woodstown-Alloway Road in Pilesgrove around 11:30 p.m., state police from the Woodstown barracks said.
But Burns could not revive her daughter, a waitress at a pizza restaurant and mother of a 3-year-old boy. Chelsea Burns was dead at the scene, state police said.

Two juveniles turned themselves in to authorities after a hit-and-run accident in which a 9-year-old boy died, Dinuba police said Monday.
About 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dinuba police received a call about a vehicle-vs.-pedestrian accident in the 1300 block of Peachcreek Avenue in northwest Dinuba.

Otha Randy Williams sat by his lifeless son’s hospital bedside early Monday morning holding the infant’s hand, kissing him all over and imagining his only child was simply sleeping. The end came suddenly.
“The nurse told me, ‘He’s losing pressure, Mr. Williams. He’s losing pressure,’ ” Williams said. “And they said, ‘Mr. Williams, he’s gone.’ When they told me he was gone, I said, ‘He’s with Jesus.’ ”
Now Williams is waiting for word that Jacksonville police have caught the man responsible for the hit-and-run accident that left 4-month-old Otha D. Williams dead at UF Health Jacksonville.

DALLAS — A Dallas woman says a police officer hit her vehicle with a squad car and drove off. She was shocked when her friend said she saw who did it.
“When she heard it happen, she looked up and saw the police car next to mine,” said Martha Harms.

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. — The Tulare County District Attorney is not charging the two teenagers who turned themselves into police in the hit-and-run death of a nine-year-old boy in Dinuba.
The family of Elijah Villareal is outraged, saying they don’t understand why the two suspects are not being charged, especially after turning themselves in.

D.C. police say they have made an arrest in a hit-and-run that left a cyclist dead last month. On Sept. 20, 53-year-old Tonya Reaves was hit by a SUV while riding her bicycle in Shaw around 2:30 a.m. on the intersection of 8th and S streets NW. The car fled the scene, and Reaves was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
On Wednesday, police arrested 20-year-old D.C. resident Dajane Thomas and charged her with second-degree murder.
